Hi!
Firstly, thank you all for checking out my blog… I am very excited to see where this goes, and have so many ideas for topics I would like to cover and even extensions like vlogs or podcasts.
A quick summary of “who” I am – I am a down to earth small town girl (and mum), who has big dreams, high expectations, a diverse rang of interests and a heart that switches between too big and too small!
I have had the idea for a while that I want to write a book. But how do I choose one general topic to stick to… I have so many!! In the mean time, why not do a blog where I can talk about so many different things, and capture the thoughts and views of so many more people as I go! I really hope to have so many of you get involved in the discussion and share your thoughts on how the blogs are, what other topics you would like covered, and even if you have experience or connections with someone with experience on a topic we cover, we could even do follow up blogs and interview these contacts.
Though this sounds like a great social and even educational experience, I did actually also have this in mind to become my side hustle… who doesn’t need a side hustle these days??
I have kind of always called myself a single mum. I have a beautiful “tween” daughter and a handsome little monster a few years younger. I am a hopeless romantic wannabe and have tried to have a few relationships in the past, they never seemed to last too long or get to a really serious level. Lucky for me (and him!) I am now actually in a relatively new, but wonderful relationship and so excited to see where that goes and what adventures and experiences we have along the way.
I work full time (still trying to study as well) as an agronomy consultant, “Agronomy – Application of the various soil and plant sciences to soil management and crop production; scientific agriculture.” With a passion for farm management practices that contribute to rebuilding our soils, improving the health and quality of crops and helping farmers to learn how to farm in a way that become sustainable for the planet, population and the farmers back pocket. This passion also
It still surprises me how much everything I linked. The whole cycle of life that Mufasa told little Simba about on the lion king is all true. The soil feeds the plants (the plants also feed the soil), the plants feed animals (including humans – which by the way I am still so shocked as to how humans, who are supposed to be such smart and evolved animals, can be so stupid and short sited sometimes…) and animals (be a decaying body or urine/manure) feed the same soil.
Have you ever hear someone say “you are what you eat”? That is also true. Mostly.
If you eat rubbish, your body will always be working harder to provide what you need. And at some stage, things will struggle. If you eat healthy and have a healthy lifestyle, your body is provided with the physical tools it needs to perform all its roles it has.
Notice I said “physical” tools there? One thing I am interested to learn more about is the mind. The power of your mind to create your own reality – not just physical health but your whole world. Your whole existence. This isn’t even “weird” either; there is plenty of science that shows how using energy can manipulate reality. This is even done with plants. You can manipulate energy to influence the plants you have, and how what grows.
So I feel even just from my little introduction there I have already identified a number of examples of what type of topics I am likely to cover; Side hustles, parenting, relationships, environmental issues, sustainable lifestyles, just weird things in general that I want to learn more about… I really can not wait to get into so many things, I am sure there will be plenty of random subjects that pop up from whatever is going on in my life at the time as well and I will be sure to line up interviews with people when it suits.
I have been telling myself I am going to start this blog for quite a while now. It was a bitter sweet moment today that gave me the push to just start typing.
Today, we had my grandpa’s funeral. He was 95 years old. He died, as we all will. There are so many things about his life that I don’t know. There are so many memories and traits about him that were never mentioned at the funeral, but ones that I sat there and remembered quietly.
He died. He isn’t here anymore. He can’t do anything anymore. Even for the last 3-4 years, he was not overly active. I am. I can do what I want. When I want. And I want to do this. Plus so much more.
More about me will come out as we go, but I am keen to hear a little bit about you all as well – where you are from, are you a parent, environmentalist, just looking for something to fill your time in with etc. Feel free to add what sort of topics you would love to read about as well.
Thank you for tuning in!
